I do not believe there is, nor should there be, a division between research and teaching.
Good instructors need to be at the cutting edge of recent scholarship.

My research agenda centers on supporting undergraduate research.

We know its many benefits, including enhancing student learning through mentoring relationships, increasing retention and graduation rates, preparing students for their careers, and fostering critical thinking and intellectual independence.

Please contact me to discuss your project ideas or for information on how to support your students' research goals.

Select Topics.

  • Minoritized Populations

Minoritized populations are overrepresented in the justice system and face discrimination based on a variety of demographic factors, including race, ethnicity, gender, and sexual orientation.

  • Restorative Justice

Restorative justice acknowledges that crime violates people and relationships. It seeks to examine the harmful impact of crime and repair those harms rather than relying solely on punishing the offender.

  • Victimology & Victimization

Victimology is a subdiscipline of criminology that studies the impact of victimization on people, including interactions with the justice system and relationships with offenders.

Criminology is an area of study that is thriving with problems, contradictions, and new areas of inquiry.
I encourage students to discover the excitement of researching criminology and the importance of developing and maintaining the methodological tools for assessing information and evaluating policy.
